job opening - TIG/MIG Welder - 1st Shift

Department: Welding

Pay: $24- $27/hour DOE

Reports to: Plant Manager

  • Designs, fabricates, joins and/or repairs space age metals, scientific and research components using oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG and TIG welding techniques.

    • MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS OF THE TRADE

    • Knowledge of welding procedures such as MIG, TIG, stick & flux core

    • Do structural and pressure welding as required

    • Understand welding techniques particularly for welding thick and thin selections together and be proficient in electric or oxyacetylene welding, mig welding, flux core, brazing, soldering, shrinking or sweating

    • Fabricating aluminum components

    • Layout, cut, fit, grind, assemble, and tack

    • Use hand grinder to smooth weld and adjacent surfaces. Judgment is required to select proper tips for welding or cutting and in selection of welding rods

    • Use complicated blueprints applying welding symbols and welding grooves specified

    • Conform to all safety procedures and policies

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Certification in welding

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

    • Proven trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.

    • Knowledge of materials, methods, practices and tools used in electronic and manufacturing maintenance including reading blueprints and schematics.

    • Knowledge of safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and safety precautions.

    • Knowledge of welding techniques (oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, MIG, TIG, controlled atmosphere, and plasma cutting), tools and equipment.

    • Knowledge of non-destructive inspection techniques.

    • Skill in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures.

    • Skill in heat treating and thermo spraying.

    • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting at workstation

    • Occasional lifting above shoulder level, stooping, bending, twisting, squatting, pushing and pulling

    • May be required to lift up to 50#
